McKenzie Rae came into our rescue program on August 7, 2016. McKenzie Rae came into our rescue program from an Owner Surrender after Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office investigated. McKenzie Rae came in with one other horse, Allon. McKenzie Rae is a Beautiful, Cremello, Quarter Horse, Filly. McKenzie Rae is estimated to be 10 months of age. McKenzie Rae is emaciated, body score of a 1, and infested with internal/external parasites. This poor little girl is in horrible condition, probably the worst I have seen in such a young horse. She is covered in blood from fly bites and she is literally skin over bones. The pictures just don't do justice to show how bad she really is. McKenzie Rae's blood work showed she is extremely anemic. Her original blood work was border line to needing a blood transfusion. Thankfully, we have been able to slowly raise her levels. McKenzie Rae is a sweet girl and she seems to love attention. She is getting used to the routine of seeing us frequently throughout the day and she seems to be ready for us to enter her stall, she quickly checks us over to see if we brought food. She has such a sweet personality and disposition. McKenzie Rae has a long road of recovery ahead of her. We will continue to update as McKenzie Rae improves. Please consider making a donation towards McKenzie Rae's Rehabilitation.

Update January 2017 McKenzie Rae is doing great and looking beautiful! She is growing like a weed and continues to fill out daily. This is one special girl and she will need a special home to call her own. McKenzie Rae will require patience and gentle handling. She has some minor fear issues, but with time and patience she will over come them. She is super sweet and loves attention but does have some issues being caught and haltered. She is slowly improving each time. She is not a dominant horse and gets pushed around easily. It will be important that where ever she goes, she needs a companion that will take care of her and not push her around. We would also recommend that she get fed by herself, as she is a slow eater. McKenzie Rae has so much potential and has come so far from the brink of death. McKenzie Rae has a current negative coggins, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof maintenance. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please submit an adoption application or call/email to schedule an appointment to come visit McKenzie Rae.
